“The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.” - John 5:25
That is not poetry. That is a promise.
1. The Resurrection Was Not a New Idea
Resurrection did not suddenly appear in the New Testament like a plot twist. In the Old Testament, God already whispered it.
> Daniel 12:2 says many who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake.
> In Ezekiel 37, God shows dry bones coming back to life.
> In Job 19:25-26, Job declares that even after his skin is destroyed, he will see God.
From the beginning, God was saying: Death is not the end. It is a door.
2. Then Jesus Arrived
When Jesus came, He did not debate resurrection. He declared it. In John 11:25, He said: “I am the resurrection, and the life.”
Notice what He did not say. He did not say, “I will show you resurrection.”
He said, “I AM resurrection.”
When He stood at the tomb of Lazarus, He called a dead man by name and death obeyed. That was not just a miracle. It was a preview. In John 5:28-29, Jesus said all who are in the graves will hear His voice. All. One day, the same voice that said “Let there be light” will say “Come forth.”
3. What Is Heaven?
Heaven is not floating clouds and harps. That is cartoon theology. Heaven is restored relationship. Heaven is the presence of God without separation. Heaven is life without decay.
In John 14:2-3, Jesus said He goes to prepare a place and will come again to receive us. Heaven is not humans escaping earth. It is God finishing what He started.
4. Resurrections
Jesus said something profound in John 5:25: “The hour is coming, and now is.”
Real spiritual resurrection is when a spiritually dead heart\mind hears Jesus and comes alive now. This first happens when you believe.
The Old Testament promised it. Jesus embodied it. The New Testament confirms it.
In the First Epistle to the Corinthians 15:22, it says: “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
Adam brought death. Jesus brought resurrection. Simple.
5. What This Means For You
If you hear His voice, you live. Not just after death. Now.
Resurrection life means:
• Fear loses its grip.
• Sin loses its authority.
• Death loses its final word.
• Your story is not ending in a grave.
The same Spirit that raised Jesus lives in believers. That means resurrection power is not just future. It is active.
Prayer
In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Father God, I hear the voice of your Son, and I choose life. Let every dead place in me hear Your Word and rise. Let fear die. Let doubt die. Let spiritual dryness die.
Jesus Christ, You are the Resurrection and the Life. Speak into my spirit now. Call me out of every grave that has held me.
Holy Spirit, ignite Your fire in me. Awaken every dormant gift. Stir prophecy, wisdom, boldness, discernment, faith, and holy love. Let resurrection power move through my thoughts, my words, my hands.
Where there was death, bring life. Where there was silence, release Your voice. Where there was weakness, release fire.
I receive resurrection life. I receive Holy Spirit fire. I receive boldness to walk as one who has already crossed from death to life.
In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, Amen.
