"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 3:13-14
Devotional
It is exhausting to carry a past God has already redeemed. When Paul speaks of “forgetting what is behind,” he does not mean amnesia, he means refusing to let yesterday define today. Paul carried a history of mistakes and pride, yet he knew that fixating on the rearview mirror would paralyze his purpose.
Letting go is a deliberate act of trust. God is not waiting for you in your past, He meets you in the present and calls you into your future. Step out of yesterday’s shadows and into today’s grace.
Reflection
What specific regret, hurt, or past season are you still clutching?
How is looking backward hindering you from running your race freely today?
Prayer
In the Name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Heavenly Father, I release the weights and regrets of my past, trusting that Your mercy has fully covered them.
Lord Jesus, anchor my identity in Your grace today and grant me courage to stop dwelling on what You have already forgiven.
Holy Spirit, fill me with fresh hope, refocus my vision, and empower me to press forward into the purposeful future You have prepared for me.
Glory be to God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
