Blessing🚫Blockers

"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me."

- Psalm 66:18

God delights in blessing His people, yet Scripture shows that blessings can be hindered by matters of the heart. Many times, it is not heaven that is closed, but hearts that are misaligned.

Today we examine blessing blockers that quietly operate among believers and disrupt unity, growth, and spiritual flow. Here's a few but they are not limited to these ones.

1. Comparison in Ministry and Spiritual Gifting

When believers compare callings instead of stewarding their own, envy replaces gratitude.

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit." - 1 Corinthians 12:4

Comparison in ministry leads to:

🎯Discontent with one's assignment

🎯Envy toward a brother or sister's spiritual                advancement

🎯Dishonour toward God, the Giver of the gift

"Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another." - Galatians 5:26

When we fail to appreciate what God has bestowed upon us, we block the growth attached to our obedience

2. Comparison in Material Things and Life Advancement

Comparing possessions, progress, and status breeds covetousness and unrest.

"Take heed, and beware of covetousness..." - Luke 12:15

Material comparison:

🎯Shifts trust from God's provision to human benchmarks

🎯Creates dissatisfaction even in abundance

"Godliness with contentment is great gain." - 1 Timothy 6:6

What God gives one person is not a measure of another'sworth.

3. Selfish Ambition, Promiscuity, and Greed

Selfish ambition fragments the Body and produces division.

"For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder..." - James 3:16

The book of Galatians warns clearly:

"The works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity... jealousy, fits of anger, selfish ambition..." - Galatians 5:19-21

Promiscuity and greed are not private struggles; they affect corporate blessing. Flesh-led living opposes Spirit-led fruitfulness.

"Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16

4. Belittling Those God Has Ordained Before Us

Despising or undermining God-ordained leadership is a serious spiritual error.

"Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm." - Psalm 105:15

Belittling authority:

🎯Breeds rebellion

🎯Invites confusion

🎯Blocks order and blessing

"Obey them that have the rule over you..." - Hebrews 13:17

God may use imperfect vessels, but He still honors His order.

5. Mixing With Unbelievers Without Redemptive Purpose

Scripture does not forbid association, but it warns against unequal alignment.

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers..." - 2 Corinthians 6:14

When fellowship lacks the intention to influence for Christ:

🎯Convictions weaken

🎯Standards erode

🎯Spiritual direction becomes blurred

Jesus engaged sinners to transform them, not to imitate them.

"Ye are the light of the world." - Matthew 5:14

Conclusive Resolution: The Way Forward

All these blessing blockers share one solution: a heart aligned with God and unified with His people. We are called to:

🎯Celebrate one another's victories

🎯Honour every calling and gift

🎯Walk in humility, purity, and love

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice." - Romans 12:15

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above..." - James 1:17

When we embrace contentment, unity, holiness, and honour, we remove the blockers and position ourselves under God's open hand of blessing.

Let us not compete where God has called us to complete one another. Let us not envy gifts, but embrace grace. For God blesses a people who walk together in truth, love, and unity.
